Have you ever heard of La Alhambra? I had not, before this trip. But it ranks right up there with the pyramids at Giza, and St. Peter’s Basilica. It’s a palace on the mountain above Granada. It is famously the last Muslim holdout on the Iberian Penninsula, and fell to the Christians in 1492. It is really spectacular. These are pictures of the Alcazaba, which is the fortress that protected the palace. The Alcazaba is what’s mostly visible from the city below.
