Alex Munk, just looking around.

After the Mezquita, we went looking for some Kebab, because in Granada we discovered that the girls loved it, and they wouldn’t eat much else. So we got some directions from a local, and headed up the street.

We found ourselves walking down the center of the street, and people were camping on the sides like they do in the US when a parade is coming. This was the procession to kick off Semana Santa (Holy Week). From what we could tell, the procession is a Jesus parade. I think we should have Jesus parades in the US.

The close up of the dudes in the black hats were the beginning.

Preparations for Semana Santa had been going on the whole time we were in Spain. Many of the churches we went to had float construction going on inside. Some churches were closed entirely for preparation. Nuns were everywhere, running about, and people were building all sorts of stuff.

The procession seemed to go everywhere throughout the old city. The streets were packed with people. At one point, we were in a people-jam that was so tight that we were smashed against other people on all sides, Molly and I got separated, and we had to hang on to trains of other people to squeeze through. It took us ten minutes to walk 25 meters or so.

But we found our square, and our Kebab… just as Liza conked out.
